This is a popular destination for swimming and boating in the summer months. Bloedel Donovan park is the only public boat launch on Lake Watcom. It also offers a soccer field, basketball court, sand volleyball court, playground, and community pavilion.

Lakewood:
Lakewood is owned by Western Washington University. It is a 4,000 square foot log facility that has a boat house, meeting lounge, and locker rooms. There is a sand volleyball court, picnic tables and BBQs, hiking trails and a ropes challenge course. Watercraft rentals are available for Western students and Watcom community college students and faculty for a small fee.

Hertz Trail is a beautiful 3.1 mile trail that is set between Steward Mountain and Lake Watcom that begins with a gradual slope through lush forest, then follows the railroad grade of the Bellingham & Eastern Railway along the shores of Lake Watcom. The Associated Students Outdoor center offers a variety of outdoor activities and resources for WWU students, faculty, staff and alumni. They offer resources such as knowledgeable staff, equipment rentals, a bike shop, outdoor group excursions, educational resources and instructional clinics. They also offer local references and books to get ideas of hikes or excursions in the area. The bike shop serves as place to learn how to fix your bicycle, for only a $2 fee they can show you how get your bike back up-and-running. They offer retail parts, bike repair and bike tools.
